Program Description: |
Youth violence and
youth suicide are significant public health challenges that require
intervention at many levels. Trauma informed care can contribute to risk

and the provision of respectful trusting relationships, the youth gains new
opportunities to define him or herself individually and in the community. |

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be
able to: 1.
Describe how both trauma and depression cause
biological alterations, distortions of reality, and emotional fragmentation
predisposing some youth to violence 2.
Identify how trauma informed care promotes harm
reduction and is compatible with the following intervention models: medical
model, rehabilitation model, and recovery model 3.
Recognize specific implications of trauma informed
care for the community and the socialization of children and adolescents |
Target Audience: |
Psychiatrists,
psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other mental health professionals
who work with children and adolescents and their families. |
